2010 Youth Financial Educators' Summit

“Preparing Louisiana Students for Real Life” The Louisiana Jump$tart Coalition is proud to present the 2010 Youth Financial Educators' Summit which will feature researchers, educators, and practitioners with expertise in financial education and delivery to youth. Summit highlights consist of exhibits, general and break-out sessions, a welcome reception, door prizes, on-site meals, and nationally recognized keynote speakers including Pam Krueger and Jack Gallagher from the TV series, MoneyTrack and Steve Bucci, author of the book “Credit Repair Kit for Dummies”. Dates: Monday & Tuesday, September 27 - 28, 2010 Place: Crowne Plaza Hotel and Conference Center, Baton Rouge Event Details The goal of the Summit is to provide educators with the latest resources to inform students how their individual choices directly influence their occupational goals and future earnings potential and to provide a foundational understanding for making informed personal financial decisions. The target audience will be Free Enterprise, Business, Math, Family and Consumer Science, Economics AP, and Jr. ROTC teachers and district curriculum coordinators from Louisiana public, private, and parochial schools. Concurrent sessions of the Summit will address the following topics: Financial Responsibility and Decision Making, Risk Management and Insurance, Saving and Investing, Curriculum and Pedagogy (two concurrent sessions), and Educators Personal Financial Concerns. The Summit will provide the opportunity for educators to enhance both their professional and personal knowledge regarding personal finance and to earn Continuing Learning Units (CLUs).
