WHAT WE DO:
The ABA Education Foundation, a nonprofit subsidiary of the American Bankers Association, provides financial education programs that help bankers empower their communities with financial knowledge. The foundation was founded in 1925 by bankers. It is guided by a board of banker advisors and works in partnership with leading financial education and banking trade groups.
WHAT WE OFFER:
Community Develop Opportunities for Banks
Through our national programs—Teach Children to Save, Get Smart About Credit, and Lights, Camera, Save!—more than 1,300 banks nationwide connect with hundreds of thousands of students annually. Our programs rely on banker volunteers to leverage their local education contacts to raise awareness of the need for financial education.
WHAT WE NEED:
Students to participate in our one-of-a-kind Lights, Camera, Save! video contest for a chance to win up $3,000 in U.S. Savings Bonds. The video contest is uniquely designed to get teens excited about the concept of saving money. Students (ages 13-18) will create a 90 second video illustrating their thoughts on saving money in hopes of inspiring others to become lifelong savers.
Anytime between October 1 and November 1 students can participate by entering the contest at one of our participating banks. No participating banks in your area? No problem. Students can enter at any bank in your state or in a neighboring state. Many banks will allow students to mail in entry forms and videos, and some even have a YouTube submission option. Please note that students are only allowed to submit a video to one bank. Students that do not comply will be disqualified. Sounds like something fun for your students or a teen in your life? Contact one of the banks listed and go from there. [List of participating banks: http://www.aba.com/aba/documents/press/abaef/LCS2011.pdf]
