The Texas Jump$tart Coalition has formed the following committees in order to achieve its goals.  

Committee Openings
The following is Texas Jump$tart Coalition Committee structure. Please contact one of the current Board members if you or your organization is interested in serving on a committee Let us know your talents or interests and we will find a good "fit" on a Coalition committee.

Membership Committee

            CHAIR:                                              

FUNCTIONS:

  • Board member recruitment/create a board member orientation manual.
  • Coordinates volunteer efforts among the membership.
  • Promote membership, communication and cooperation among coalition members.
  • Key contact for individuals/businesses interested in becoming a member of Texas Jump$tart.

Legislative Committee 

            CHAIR:             

FUNCTIONS:

  • Support personal finance legislation that develops financial literacy for all Texas schools.
  • Stay abreast of legislation issues that could possibly have an impact on financial literacy.
  • Develop strategic partnerships with key Legislators and organizations that support financial literacy in Texas.

Development Committee

          CHAIR:             

FUNCTIONS:

  • Coordinate fund-raising efforts throughout the year.
  • Identify and approach funding opportunities.
  • Assist with the writing of grants when opportunities arise. 
  • Develop a list of corporate sponsors to support the coalition.
  • Assist board members with their individual fundraising goals.

Education Committee  

            CHAIR:                                             

FUNCTIONS:

  • Speaker’s Bureau recruitment and facilitation.
  • Liaison for schools and organizations who request financial literacy training and guest speakers.
  • Enhance professional development of Texas educators.
  • Coordinate and follow-up on the National Jump$tart surveys, survey results, etc.

Public Relations Committee  

              CHAIR:                                              

FUNCTIONS:

  • Raise public awareness of financial literacy.
  • Manage media relationships, PSA opportunities and event (Financial Literacy Month Celebration, Annual Meeting, Teachers Training, etc.) promotion.
  • Create bi-annual newsletter – the design of the newsletter will be outsourced – the committee will just be responsible for content.
  • Provide updates to the entire Jump$tart membership on behalf of the Board of Directors.

Events/Programs Committee

  • Planning and implementation of the coalition’s annual events – speakers, invitations, program, etc.
  • Recommend future events/programs that would further Jump$tart’s mission and purpose.
