The following events are currently scheduled:

The Mississippi Jump$tart Coalition is sponsoring an art and essay contest for Mississippi students in the ninth through twelfth grades. The overall theme for the 2015 Art and Essay Contest is Get Smart About Credit with an emphasis on paying for college. Entries will be judged on how well they convey the theme of finding resources outside of student loans to pay for college.

The contests are great ways to win scholarships in an easy, fun, and rewarding way while learning valuable lessons. The contest guidelines are listed on an enclosed sheet. Please pay particular attention to the 2015 Submission Requirements as this is the first year that essay entries must be submitted by email.

Entries will be judged on how well they convey the theme through their artistic or written communication skills. MACS (Mississippi Affordable College Savings) Scholarship awards of $1,000 will be established for the top essay and art winners. MACS (Mississippi Affordable College Savings) Scholarship awards of $500 will be established to the students finishing 2nd place in each category. Winners will be notified by October 1, 2015. The Mississippi Jump$tart Coalition will host a press conference in Jackson, Mississippi on Thursday, October 15, 2015 to recognize the winners and present the scholarships.

Art entries should be postmarked no later than Friday, September 11, 2015 and essay entries should be emailed on or before Friday, September 11, 2015 by 5:00 p.m. If you have any questions, please contact Ursula at 601-665-0447 or by email at Turn on JavaScript!
