2013 NC Jump$tart Coalition President and Vice President were in attendance at the National Jump$tart Coalition Annual Awards Dinner which was held at the Renaissance Washington, DC Hotel on Tuesday April 23, 2013. United States Senator Kay Hagan was one of many recognized during the awards ceremony. She was the recipient of the Federal Leadership Award which recognizes leadership among members of the Federal Government and Congress for advancing financial education.

| On Tuesday, March 31, 2009, the NC Coalition of the Jump$tart organization held a Day at the State Legislature to kick off April as Financial Literacy for Youth Month and promote the importance of financial education across the state. The event featured the following guest speakers: State Treasurer Janet Cowell Information was shared about Senate Bill 1019 (sponsored by Senators Stein & Brunstetter) and House Bill 817 (sponsored by Representatives Tillis, Glazier, Wainwright & Howard) to establish a Financial Literacy Council. Alexandra Forter Sirota, a NCJ$ Board member and staff member of the Action for Children North Carolina organization, closed by sharing how the attendees could visit their area Legislators to express their support for a Fiancial Literacy Council in North Carolina.
