Joining the Jump$tart Team in September 2007, Maritta serves state coalitions in the twelve Midwestern states. Based in Texas, she is also a substitute teacher (K-12) and an independent contractor, consulting with credit unions and their support organizations.

Maritta began a career in credit unions in the 1960’s; she has worked in every operational and managerial position ranging from teller to CEO. In 1981 she left retail credit unions and joined the staff of the Georgia corporate credit union where she became the chief operating officer. Her responsibilities at the Georgia Credit Union Affiliates, a support organization, included shared service centers, item processing, EFT/ATMs, auditing, finance and administration departments.

In 1995 Maritta accepted a position of Sr. Vice President at the Texas Credit Union League where she was responsible for the Texas Credit Union Foundation, the service corporation, and Texas Credit Union Service Centers. Her association with the Foundation developed Maritta’s passion for promoting financial literacy. She became an avid supporter of serving the Hispanic market segment when she was liaison to the Texas/Mexico Credit Union Relationship Committee.

During her career, Maritta has served on a variety of boards and committees including US Central Credit Union, the Corporate Forum Committee and the Credit Union Service Corporation. She has worked as a consultant in Poland for the World Council of Credit Unions and continues her support of the Mexican Credit Union Movement. Maritta retired from full time employment in 2004.

Maritta holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a concentration in accounting from Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, Georgia. She and her husband enjoy traveling (especially to see their granddaughters) as well as their involvement with Habitat for Humanity, the North Texas Special Olympics and the Dallas chapter of the NFL Alumni.
