National Foundation for Credit Counseling (NFCC)

Founded in 1951, the National Foundation for Credit Counseling® (NFCC®) is the nation’s largest and longest-serving national nonprofit credit counseling and financial education organization.  The NFCC’s mission is to promote the national agenda for financially responsible behavior and build capacity for its members to deliver the highest quality financial education and counseling services.

In 2013 the NFCC joined forces with leading financial services companies and other stakeholders to launch Sharpen Your Financial Focus™, a nationally-driven, grassroots-supported initiative that is designed to:

  • Assist American consumers in stabilizing their personal financial situations;
  • Through media outreach, encourage consumers to take action over the phone, through the internet, or at a NFCC member agency; and
  • Provide a three-step process for improving consumer financial circumstances and behaviors.

To locate a participating NFCC member, visit www.SharpenToday.org or call 855-3-SHARPEN.

NFCC members annually help millions of consumers through more than 600 community-based offices.  For free and affordable confidential advice through a reputable NFCC member agency, call 800-388-2227 (En Español 800-682-9832) or visit www.nfcc.org.
