WHAT WE DO:
The National Theatre for Children (NTC) is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of children. We use a unique educational strategy that combines live theatre and multi-platform communications – television, Internet and print curriculum – to deliver educational messages on behalf of sponsors to students and their families. NTC handles all program logistics and guarantees entry into schools. In fact, we perform live educational theatre programs in front of millions of students and parents in thousands of schools every year. Since its founding in 1978, NTC has grown to become the largest in-school touring educational theatre company in the world.
WHAT WE OFFER:
NTC provides corporate sponsors the opportunity to help educate our nation’s youth on important and timely curricular subjects, especially financial literacy. We have entertaining, educational, and age-appropriate programming – live, print, Internet, and/or TV – for students in grades K-12. NTC’s completely turn-key tours are centrally planned and controlled, yet each reflects the cultural diversity of individual communities and geographic regions. The educational value of our various programs is constantly measured by independent research firms and top educators, and the results are published in the leading trade and educational journals. It enables us to guarantee entry into virtually any school in the country.
WHAT’S NEW:
Turn on JavaScript!
NTC’s newest multi-platform program – originally announced at Jump$tart’s First Annual Teacher’s Conference – is designed to teach tweens, teens, and their families about important life skills such as money, peer pressure, decision making, nutrition, environment, health – all in a fun and entertaining way. Its Saturday Night Live meets The Electric Company! Based on a television series currently airing in 85% of U.S. viewing households, the program is grounded in NTC’s trademark live touring events that are scalable to match the M@dAbout national TV audience. Showdown at Cash Canyon
In this turn-key financial literacy program for grades K-5, students learn about money and savings with the help of a cast of fun and funny characters like Sheriff Carrie Gooper, Reginald the Cow, Blabby Daze, Wild Bill Hitchcock, and John De Range. Showdown at Cash Canyon features two professional actors who portray all the wonderfully wacky characters in the 25-minute live portion of the program. However, each show comes complete with grade appropriate workbooks (one for every student), comprehensive teacher guides, and classroom posters that provide learning activities for 4-6 weeks of additional classroom instruction.
Parent Connect Events
NTC can now coordinate with a local school district’s “Community Education” program to create Parent-Connect nights at the district’s facility or a local school. These NTC coordinated events feature performances of the live student show that are adapted for a family audience – parents, grandparents and siblings of the school students – and occur after school, evenings or on weekends. The show’s sponsor may provide local celebrities or VIPs to introduce the show, operate booths or product tables in the auditorium, conduct small group financial literacy seminars following the performance, etc.
Playworks.com
We ask every teacher who sees an NTC performance to do a brief, on-line evaluation of the program at our new Playworks website. Playworks is also an online extension of the program and acts as an enrichment resource for teachers. After completing the online program evaluation, teachers are routed directly to a ‘backstage’ area where they can find additional educational activities and materials for their students, including quizzes, reading comprehension lessons, games, writing assignments, take-home activities, etc., and links to the sponsor’s web-based resources and social media campaigns.
Press Relations
To maximize the goodwill generated from sponsoring a financial literacy program in the schools and local community, NTC now offers our sponsors additional PR outreach capabilities. We have on-going relationships with a number of press relations companies that specialize in working with legislators, government agencies, trade groups, trade & consumer media, as well as traditional broadcast and print media. We guarantee that we can deliver a sponsor’s message directly into the schools, and help reach key stakeholders with completely customizable packages that focus on specific communities.
WHAT WE NEED:
NTC wants to connect with those sponsors – corporate, non-profit, and government – who want and need to reach students and their families with a message around financial literacy. The ideal sponsor is an organization that wants a turn-key operation to reach a large number of students and families across the country or in discrete regions.
