National Financial Capability Challenge

The Obama Administration marked the back to school season by emphasizing the importance of financial education and launching its National Financial Capability Challenge for the 2010-11 school year.  The Challenge is a voluntary online exam and classroom toolkit that helps educators teach high school students about saving, budgeting, investing, the safe use of credit, and other important skills critical to developing strong financial knowledge and capability. President's Advisory Council on Financial Capability

On January 29, 2010, President Barack Obama created the President's Advisory Council on Financial Capability to assist the American people in understanding financial matters and making informed financial decisions, and thereby contribute to financial stability. It is composed of non-governmental representatives with relevant backgrounds, such as financial services, consumer protection, financial access, and education—including representatives of six Jump$tart national partner organizations. The Council will suggest ways to coordinate and maximize the effectiveness of existing private and public sector efforts and identify new approaches to increase financial capability through financial education and financial access.(You will be leaving the Jump$tart Coalition website.)
