Sandy Wheat, President of the NC Jump$tart Coalition presented the NC Jump$tart Award for Outstanding Contributions to Financial Education for Youth to the Forsyth County eLink Youth Program. This program, administered by Goodwill Industries of Northwest North Carolina in partnership with the Piedmont Triad Regional Council, provides vocational, financial and educational services to low-income at-risk youth ages 16-21. Reni Geiger, Director of Workforce Development, Career Connections and Grants, and Lakisha Jordan, Youth Program Manager, accepted the award on behalf of the Forsyth County eLink Youth Program. Ms. Jordan comments, “Financial literacy and workforce readiness are two major components in preparing youth so that they can become successful and self-sufficient.” Click here to read entire press release.

On April 24, the NC Jump$tart Coalition will host a luncheon featuring the Honorable Dr. June Atkinson, State Superintendent of NC Public Schools. 4/15/08 Jump$tart Coalition's 2008 Survey Results
In the Jump$tart Coalition's biennial survey, funded by the Merrill Lynch Foundation, high school seniors correctly answered only 48.3 percent of the questions. This mean score is a decrease from those posted by the senior class of 2006, which correctly answered 52.4 percent of the questions. Click above to read entire press release.
