Join the Virginia Jump$tart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy for the 2013 Virginia Financial Literacy Summit on Oct. 14, 2013, at the downtown Richmond Marriott Hotel. This year's Summit theme is "Financial Literacy for the Real World." We'll focus on the realities of financial literacy/planning skills and will provide teachers with practical resources they can take back to their students.
This year's Summit features keynote speaker Michelle Singletary, who is an author and award-winning nationally syndicated columnist for the Washington Post. Her column and books provide insight into the world of personal finance and she'll be speaking about this topic and more.
The goal of the special event is to bring together Virginia’s middle and high school administrators and teachers as well as the state’s leading proponents of financial literacy to have a dialogue about this important issue, hear best practices and get additional training on personal finance topics.
The 2013 Jump$tart Coalition National Educator Conference, the first national conference fully dedicated to personal finance education for teachers, will be held this year in Washington, D.C.
