The Virginia Jump$tart Coalition is actively engaged in the following projects.
The 2012 Jump$tart Coalition National Educator Conference, the first national conference designed for classroom teachers and fully dedicated to personal finance education, was held this year in Chicago, Illinois from November 2-4. The conference supports the teaching of personal finance by:
The Virginia Jump$tart coalition provided scholarships of up to $750 (including the $395 registration fee) for four Virginia teachers to attend the Jump$tart National Educator Conference. The registration fee covered two nights of lodging, conference meals and more! Check back mid-2013 for scholarship information for the 2013 conference.
This year's theme was "The Game of Life." The event focused on financial literacy and planning skills that teachers need as well as classroom resources. Attendees received tools to help students with the high school graduation requirement in economics and personal finance that took effect during the fall of 2011. This special Summit is designed to offer Virginia's school systems ongoing resources and teaching models for integrating the economics and financial literacy education requirement in the classroom.
