Teacher Conference

Save the Date!  November 5-7, 2010                  Capital Hilton, Washington, DCJ$ National Educator Conference

Calling all classroom teachers of any subject and any grade!  The Jump$tart Coalition is pleased to announce its second National Educator Conference devoted entirely to personal finance education, PreK through High School.

The 2010 conference is generously underwritten by Experian and Wells Fargo, with support from many other Jump$tart Partner organizations—enabling classroom teachers to participate at a fraction of the cost.  The National Education Association will serve, once again, as our educational partner.

The conference supports the teaching of personal finance by:

  • Demonstrating financial education resources—in breakout sessions and the exhibit hall—that teachers could begin to use immediately.
  • Providing participants with personal development—financial education that they can use themselves.
  • Providing teachers with a nationwide network of colleagues.
  • Treating teachers as valued professionals and demonstrating industry support for classroom education.
  • Subsidizing the cost for teachers to attend the conference at a time when school budgets are stretched extremely thin.

The conference supports Jump$tart partner organizations by:

  • Offering partners a platform to share their resources and expertise.
  • Including sponsors and exhibitors in meal events and other activities, fostering their interaction with teachers and each other.
  • Providing companies and organizations with goodwill exposure before the desirable teacher audience.

Jump$tart launched its first National Educator Conference in Washington, DC, in 2009.  More than 250 classroom educators from 46 states attended the inaugural conference, which was significantly underwritten by a generous grant from Experian.  Jump$tart’s National Educator Conference was the first national conference designed for classroom teachers and fully dedicated to personal finance education.  The Federal Reserve Board hosted the opening reception with Anna Bernanke, wife of Federal Reserve Board Chairman Ben Bernanke and a former classroom teacher herself, welcoming the educators to Washington.  FDIC Chairman Sheila Bair delivered the keynote address and the event concluded with a “listening session,” where the teachers talked and members of the President’s Advisory Council on Financial Education listened.

Teacher Registration for the 2010 National Educator Conference is now open!  Please check our conference web page for General Information, Exhibitor Information, Sponsor Information, and Speaker Information.
