FOOLPROOF INITIATIVE

WHAT WE DO

FoolProof is made up of consumer advocates who offer free, tough, online training to help young people “Safely Navigate the Free Enterprise System™.”

  • We teach high school and college-age young people financial literacy and critical thinking skills related to money.
  • For the third year in a row, we are the only financial literacy program in the country endorsed by both the Consumer Federation of America and the National Association of Consumer Advocates.
  • We are also partnered with the www.CAREprogram.us  and www.wise-ny.org

WHAT WE OFFER:

Turnkey, Web-driven, video-driven curriculum for high schools.

Our high school curriculum is critically acclaimed.

Here’s what Chicago Tribune Syndicated Columnist Humberto Cruz says about FoolProof’s new “Burning Money” curriculum:  “…Far more instructive - and real—than the Visa-NFL's well-publicized but simplistic game….”

Here’s what AOL Walletpop says (their third story on FoolProof) “…FoolProof continues to be one of the most engaging and honest methods for teaching teens about money….”

  • Our curriculum currently has more than 20,000 users in 46 states.
  • Our curriculum is completely free and comes without any obligation on the user’s part.
  • The curriculum is presented in online ‘modules’ that contain more than 80 videos and podcasts.
  • All our modules feature peer-to-peer teaching.
  • Our programs are highly interactive.
  • Allows a teacher to monitor one student or the entire class from their computer.
  • All programs are self-grading.
  • We meet most state financial literacy guidelines or requirements. Foolproofteacher.com tells you which standards we meet in your state.

Entire state education systems are promoting FoolProof:

  • In Pennsylvania, the Office of Financial Education includes FoolProof as one of the resources that can help middle school and high school teachers integrate personal finance into their math, economics, business education and family and consumer science classes. FoolProof’s education director was one of the featured speakers at the Office’s annual Governor’s Institute on Financial Education, a week-long professional development program for Pennsylvania K-12 teachers.
  • In Maine, where all students are going to be given a laptop, our Director of Education was flown out at the request of the Maine Office of Securities to make a presentation on FoolProof to teachers to encourage them to use FoolProof in the new laptop program.
  • In Kentucky, the Department of Education sent out an announcement on FoolProof to all teachers, and dozens of schools have registered, literally, in days.
  • In North and South Dakota, we are an accredited resource for teachers by the North and South Dakota Departments of Public Instruction.
  • In Texas, Louisiana, and Washington State (some of the few states with actual financial literacy requirements), FoolProof is approved for credit in all schools.
  •

    2. A Financial literacy program for use by colleges and universities.

    •  “Solo” gives colleges and universities a complete web-driven financial education program for freshman or for students in financial counseling.
    • The “modules” are all self-grading and feature only college-age young people in real-life situations. Grades can be sent to the school.  Info: www.foolproofme.com.

    WHAT WE NEED:

    • If you are a high school teacher or administrator, try our curriculum. Our programs are completely free, and we have no agenda, other than true, tough consumer advocacy. This is the type of information you want your own kids to have. Go to: www.foolproofteacher.com.
    • If you are a college professor or administrator:  try “FoolProof Solo” if you’re looking for a tough financial program to use in your freshman orientation.  Go to www.foolproofme.com.
