Experian offers a wide range of free education resources, as well as free and subscription credit monitoring and credit management tools.
Many of Experian’s consumer education materials are free to download at www.experian.com/consumereducation. The site includes brochures, PowerPoint presentations with talk notes, a sample credit report and even a basic lesson plan about credit reports and scores along with exercises and evaluation tools.
In response to the COVID-19 crisis, you can now request your credit report at no cost once a week through www.annualcreditreport.com. They encourage everyone to review their credit report regularly, and in today’s circumstances it is even more important to be sure your credit information is up-to-date reported accurately and that there are no signs of fraud or identity theft.
Additionally, free services like Experian Boost can help maintain and improve credit scores as we work through this unprecedented time. Experian Boost (www.experian.com/boost) is a permission-based service that enables people to have their positive cell phone and utility payments added to their accounts. On average, two out of three people report an increase in their FICO 8 score with an average improvement of 13 points.
