World Investor Week, October 3-9, is an annual global campaign promoted by the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) to raise awareness of the importance of investor education and protection. As the U.S. national coordinator for World Investor Week, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is again working with regulators and organizations to promote World Investor Week’s goals in the United States.
Some of World Investor Week’s messages that can help students build a strong financial future, include:
- Planning ahead for life’s uncertainties by starting an emergency savings fund, being aware of economic conditions, and avoiding high-interest debt
- Understanding that risk exists in all investments, and recognizing the importance of diversification
- Researching every investment opportunity to protect yourself from financial scams
