Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA)

Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) is a national Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) for individuals in Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) education in public and private school through grade 12. FCCLA offers intra-curricular resources and opportunities for students to pursue careers that support families. Since 1945, FCCLA members have been making a difference in their families, careers, and communities by addressing important personal, work, and societal issues through Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) education.

Today over 192,000 members in more than 4,750 chapters are active in a network of associations in most states. The work of FCCLA helps students and teachers focus on a variety of youth concerns, including financial literacy, parenting, family relationships, substance abuse, peer pressure, sustainability, nutrition and fitness, teen violence, and career preparation in four specific Career Pathways. Involvement in FCCLA offers members the opportunity to expand their leadership potential and develop skills for life necessary in the home and workplace.

  • FCCLA will host its upcoming National Leadership Conference in San Diego, CA, from June 29-July 3. In addition to celebrating the members’ accomplishments, FCCLA will recognize chapters for their hard work and innovative projects with the Financial Fitness National Program Award.

What Members Say

2021-2022 National President, Hunter Prinz, says that Financial Fitness “is one of our most valuable National Programs. Through encouraging members to learn more about financial literacy, members develop effective practices to earn, save, spend and protect their finances while educating their peers and community. My personal experiences with projects using the Financial Fitness National Program have provided me opportunities to participate in peer-to-peer education in our high school learning about online financial safety, working with local car dealerships to learn about purchasing and financing a vehicle, and meeting with a financial planner to learn about what steps to take for financial stability as an adult.”

Financial Literacy Month is the perfect time to highlight  FCCLA member engagement through projects completed all around the country. Some of those include: (photos included)

The first week of financial literacy month has come to a close and Jump$tart is always honored to be leaders in the mission to move financial literacy forward. #FLM is an opportunity to talk, to teach, and to reach as many people as we can with the mission and vision of financial education for all. Make sure to check out our FLM Toolkit with graphics and messaging you can use to spread the message.

In efforts to provide quality resources, we are looking to our community of providers to submit resources for review to include in the Jump$tart Clearinghouse. The mission requires access to quality resources that teach, inform, and transform.

Do you have a new initiative, program, book, or other resources, that we can add to the Clearinghouse? Submit it for review today. Email Anne.Bannister@jumpstart.org and help us continue of our collective mission to move financial literacy forward.
