At Fidelity Investments, we value supporting the financial health of communities by creating access and opportunities that support saving for the future, investing, and building generational wealth.

For more than 75 years, we’ve strengthened the financial well-being of our customers and communities where we live, work and learn. We believe everyone should know how finances fit into their life and a robust financial education incorporates skills that can be put into practice throughout life. From creating a budget to smart investing, planning for a financial future is a lifelong learning endeavor.

Through Fidelity’s financial education program, Fidelity Financial ForwardSM we are providing students, parents, educators and anyone with a vested interest in the financial future of a student a head start for the “real world” of financial planning and decisions. Students gain an understanding of saving, investing, spending, and planning in the context of today’s changing economy, and are better prepared to make personal finance and investing decisions for their lives.

It is essential that students have access to financial tools and opportunities at an early age in order to build life-long financial confidence. Since 2015, through the volunteer efforts of our associates and our nonprofit collaborators, nearly half a million students in grades K-12, and nearly 5K educators have been impacted by these healthy money habits.

Creating equitable access to financial tools and education requires both public and private partners working together – inside and outside of the classroom – to support the financial education of the next generation.

In time for the 2022-23 academic year, Fidelity now offers educators and community groups hours of personal finance educational content that is ready for turnkey incorporation into the classroom or community program environment.  The content covers all basic personal finance topics including smart saving, spending, credit, debt and investing for teens.  It is designed specifically for teens and consists of interactive exercises, quizzes, games and conversation starters and it can be delivered in-person or virtually.

Additionally, if combined with the Fidelity Youth Account, a saving, spending and investing account for teens age 13 to 17, this content can provide a powerful learning experience that lets teens learn important financial concepts and then put the learnings to use by doing it in their own account.

“Through a series of focus groups with teachers, including Teach for America educators, we developed teen-focused content that would meet the needs of all students.” Christina Cuzzi

Fidelity collaborates with local nonprofit organizations, including the Council for Economic Education, Junior Achievement USA®, SIFMA Foundation and Jump$tart Coalition to bring financial basics to school-age children.
