The impact of financial education goes far beyond our wallets; it promotes overall well-being.

Pockets Change builds intergenerational financial resilience through Hip Hop education. Our programs are community cyphers where everyone is a learner and a leader. By connecting Hip Hop and Finance, we develop an understanding of ourselves and our relationship with money. We build financial habits that resonate with our personal identity.

Our K12 learners, parents, and educators want to worry less about finances, understand how their relationship with money impacts their actions, and be equipped with tools to reach their financial goals now and in the future. We explore how to communicate, collaborate, and advocate for change in our lives and our communities.

Pockets Change will receive the 2022 Innovation Award for its creativity and ingenuity and its ability to connect financial topics to a diverse audience. Inspiring financial conversations across generations, Pockets Change Hip Hop pedagogy promotes youth-led learning and professional relationship building for social impact “to address systemic issues of educational equity and the racial wealth divide”. Their Hip Hop FinFest annual concert brings together learners and leaders to change the way we talk about money. Students and artists create songs that unpack systems, express personal values, and inspire advocacy.
Making change starts with talking about money together. In classrooms and communities across the country, we’re unpacking money myths and financial questions through project-based learning.
