Jump$tart Launches #CheckYourSchool Campaign
Today the Jump$tart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy publicly launched CheckYourSchool.org, the online face of the Check Your School campaign.
Check Your School is the first public engagement campaign of the Project Groundswell initiative, announced just last year at the Jump$tart National Partner Meeting during Financial Literacy Month. The principal goal of Project Groundswell is to increase financial education in our nation’s classrooms 25 percent by the end of 2025. Supporting goals include increasing professional development opportunities for teachers and strengthening financial education through recommended elements of effectiveness appropriate for elementary, middle, and high school.
CheckYourSchool.org features an interactive tool where parents, grandparents, guardians, families, friends, and neighbors can tell us about the financial education taking place at—or missing from—their own kids’ schools. Most importantly, it’s where they can find tools and encouragement to help us start the conversation on the importance of financial literacy and the need for effective financial education.
Five different toolkits show individuals and entities how to join the campaign; there’s even a toolkit just for students. The Implementation Toolkit will help educators and administrators find curriculum resources, standards, professional development and other support, to help them introduce or augment financial education in their classrooms.
