Jump$tart Elects ABA Foundation’s Corey Carlisle as Fifth Chair of National Board of Directors
Washington, DC – November 16, 2021 – The Jump$tart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy today announced the election of Corey Carlisle, Senior Vice President at the American Bankers Association and Executive Director of the ABA Foundation, to Chair the coalition’s national Board of Directors. The ABA Foundation is a Jump$tart National Partner organization. Carlisle has represented the ABA Foundation on Jump$tart’s Board since 2014, most recently as Vice Chair, and will serve as its fifth Chair.
“I am honored to serve as Jumpstart’s next Chair,” said Carlisle. “Financial education and hands-on money experience are essential to building a generation of smart money managers. I look forward to working with Jumpstart’s vast network of partners and state coalitions to advance our collective mission to enhance youth financial literacy.”
Also elected at the November 8, 2021 Board Meeting were: Wynne Lum, ESG Program Manager at Bank of America to serve as Vice Chair; J. Michael Collins, Ph.D., Professor of Public Affairs and Human Ecology, and Faculty Director of the Center for Financial Security at the University of Wisconsin-Madison to serve as Treasurer; and Rhonda Ashburn, Executive Director of the AFSA Education Foundation, to serve her second term as Secretary. The two-year terms for these officers begin January 1, 2022.
Carlisle succeeds Michael Staten, Ph.D. of the University of Arizona, who concludes his second term as Chair after having previously served as Vice Chair and Treasurer. Lum succeeds Carlisle and Collins succeeds Vickie Bajtelsmit, Ph.D., of Colorado State University, who will also complete her second term and term limit. Ashburn is the incumbent.
“Jump$tart has had the good fortune of many outstanding leaders and our new officers are no exception,” said Laura Levine, President and CEO. “Representing financial institutions, financial associations, and academia, our four new officers will bring diverse perspectives to our work. Plus, these are all people whom I respect tremendously and enjoy working with. I look forward to the coming years.”
Levine went on to say, “Jump$tart owes a tremendous debt of gratitude to Mike and Vickie as they complete their terms. Their leadership has been invaluable during years of growth, change and pandemic, and I personally have benefitted from their wisdom, guidance, and support.” Both Staten and Bajtelsmit are expected to remain on Jump$tart’s Board.
