#JSNEC18 FAQs

Q. What is the registration price for teachers?

Zero. Jump$tart has eliminated the registration fee for teachers to attend the National Educator Conference. Instead, teachers will apply for full registration scholarships and, if selected, will be invited to register at no cost to them.

Q. Is there any cost to me or my school, at all?

Possibly. Jump$tart’s full registration scholarships do not include travel or incidental expenses. Additionally, scholarship recipients register with a $100 deposit that is refunded if you attend the conference; but forfeited if you are a no-show or last-minute cancellation.

Q. What does a registration scholarship cover?

Two nights in a private room at the Hilton Cleveland Downtown; six conference meals, including special events on Saturday and Sunday nights; full participation in the conference.

Q. Can I attend #JSNEC18 without a scholarship?

Unfortunately, no. This year’s conference provides scholarships for each teacher to attend. That process has now closed. Winners were recently notified whether they were awarded a scholarship. See the list of winners for more information.

Q. What will the program include?

See the conference brochure for more information.

Q. Can I come for just part of the conference?

No. Attendees must be available to participate in the full conference. Besides, anyone who cuts out early on Monday misses our closing session with great raffle prizes!

Q. How do I know if #JSNEC18 is right for me?

If you are a PreK-12th grade classroom teacher, the #JSNEC18 is right for you. Our program is designed to offer value to professional educators who teach personal finance as a standalone course or incorporate the content into any subject matter at any grade level. We have sessions and resources for those new to teaching finance, as well as in-depth content for classroom veterans. Plus, if you’re looking to meet some new people, we’re ready to introduce you to a whole nation of colleagues you never knew you had.

Q. Can I bring a guest?

Yes. You can buy a guest registration (for a spouse or other adult guest who will share your room) when you register for the conference.

Q. Is registration different from the scholarship application?

Yes. If you are awarded a scholarship by Jump$tart, one of our state coalitions, or any of our partner programs, you will be provided with a link to register for the conference. There is some additional information that we’ll collect at that time, including your selection of breakout sessions.

Q. What if I have special needs?

You will be asked to tell us about your special needs when you register for the conference—whether hearing or access needs, dietary restrictions, etc. Our goal is to meet your needs, if possible, and ensure that you get maximum benefit from your participation.

Q. What if I want to stay a few extra days in Cleveland?

If you want to arrive at the hotel before November 3 or stay beyond November 5, please let us know when you register for the conference. Extra days will be at your own expense, but we’ll make the extended reservation at the Hilton for you.

Q. What else do I need to know?

Jump$tart will send additional information to registrants closer to the time of the conference, including suggestions on attire, ground transportation and what to bring.

“I had a BLAST this past weekend at the conference, and believe I learned more and obtained more useful materials than I have from any conference. I know it will all benefit my students greatly.”
