A Financial Literacy Month Message From Our President and CEO – The Time Is Now

Read Message

What is Financial Literacy Month?

Financial Literacy Month is a nationwide, collaborative endeavor marked by a variety of activities and events across the country and throughout the month.  In most years, it’s when our community celebrates achievements in improving the financial literacy of all Americans – especially our nation’s youth. How did it start? Financial Literacy Month was started as Youth Financial Literacy Day by the National Endowment for Financial Education. NEFE brought it to Jump$tart to promote among its 100+ Partners as Youth Financial Literacy Month and later, simply as Financial Literacy Month. Today, organizations across the country conduct events and initiatives throughout the month of April. #FinancialLiteracyMonth

Simple Ways to Share the Love

Each week we will post a different graphic with sample messages you can use to share with your audiences on social or in your communication tools.

#FinancialLiteracyMonth is an opportunity to start the conversation about money! @NatlJumpStart encourages parents to worry less about “teaching” their kids about money and focus more on TALKING about it. Most of us would be more open to a conversation than a lecture and raising your kids’ awareness about money opens the door to more ongoing conversations than “the big talk.”

No matter how much or how little we know about personal finance, we can advocate for our own kids. Ask if your child’s school offers financial education and if not, why not start? Learn more about our #CheckYourSchool campaign and find tools to get you started. #FinancialLiteracyMonth

Though #FinancialLiteracyMonth 2022 is coming to a close, the work to bring personal finance to life in our nation’s classrooms continues. Just ahead of #TeacherAppreciationWeek, which starts next week, Jump$tart Coalition pays tribute, once again, to the rock-star educators who are making #FinancialSmartsForStudents a reality.
