For more than 20 years, Visa has been helping people of all ages effectively learn the fundamentals of personal finance. Visa provides free, relevant and innovative financial education resources to parents, teachers, students and consumers so they can learn the essentials of personal financial management. Practical Money Skills is an engaging educational program that informs consumers of all ages about personal finance subjects including budgeting, saving and investing.

Practical Money Skills is designed to help people practice better money management for life. Free program offerings include:

  • A variety of classroom lesson plans and curriculum with presentations, student activities and classroom resources covering budgeting, saving, investing and tips for recognizing and resolving financial trouble.
  • A series of mobile apps to help individuals with budgeting, tracking expenses and improving their finance habits. These apps include Peter Pig’s Money Counter, Lunch Tracker, Plan’it Prom and the Tooth Fairy Calculator.
  • Easy to use, interactive calculators designed to let students explore a variety of topics ranging from the true cost of credit to the best way to build a budget.
  • Fast-paced educational games geared toward all ages including the popular Financial Football game where students tackle financial questions to earn yardage and score touchdowns.
  • Educational comic books developed by Visa and Marvel Entertainment, including Guardians of the Galaxy: Rocket’s Powerful Plan and Avengers: Saving the Day. These comics are available in digital and print, featuring iconic Marvel characters to make financial education entertaining and engaging for students. The new Guardians comic is available in 16 languages, while the original Avengers comic was distributed in 10 countries and available in 8 languages.
  • Efforts in partnership with government officials have included a Financial Literacy Summit with the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago and the adoption of Financial Football in collaboration with 49 state governments and the District of Columbia.
  • A monthly email newsletter highlighting timely financial articles, practical money management tips and useful financial education tools.
  • A “What’s My Score” program enabling college students and young adults to learn important information about credit scores, loans, renting apartments and other relevant subjects at whatsmyscore.org.
  • Fully-integrated social media and mobile tools that are regularly updated with videos, resources and articles to inform both young adults and professionals about the benefits of managing their personal finances wisely.

Visa works with educators, government agencies, nonprofit organizations, leading consumer advocates and financial institutions to support financial literacy programs across the nation and around the globe. To that end, Visa is proud to partner with the Jump$tart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy to advance personal finance learning.
