WHO WE ARE

The National Disability Institute (NDI) influences thinking and behavior through pioneering research, advocacy, policy development, training and technical assistance. We collaborate with hundreds of organizations throughout the country—from financial institutions and employers to government and community organizations—to empower people with disabilities and their families to build a better financial future. We envision a society in which people with disabilities have the same opportunities to achieve financial stability and independence as people without disabilities. Visit www.nationaldisabilityinstitute.org for more info.

  • Laser focus on poverty reduction, financial capability and financial inclusion that has enabled NDI to build extensive relationships between the disability and financial communities to focus on systems change.
  • Able to unravel the complexities of public benefits and human service systems to design, test and build new intervention models to advance financial capability and independence.

WHAT’S NEW

In June 2019, NDI opened the Center for Disability-Inclusive Community Development (CDICD). The Center works to improve the financial health and well-being of low and moderate income (LMI) individuals with disabilities and their families by increasing awareness and usage of the opportunities and resources available under the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA). The new Center will be a one-stop location for training, technical assistance and research that supports financial institutions to meet CRA obligations through inclusive community development activities that focus on the needs of low-income people with disabilities and their families. The CDICD fills a knowledge and technical assistance gap that no existing public or private resource currently offers to the financial and/or disability communities.
