WASHINGTON, DC – February 13, 2025. Greenlight, a leading provider of financial education and banking solutions for kids and teens, has been selected to receive the Jump$tart Innovation Award in recognition of its groundbreaking efforts in youth financial literacy. The award will be presented April 10, 2025, at Jump$tart’s annual awards luncheon in Washington, DC.
The Innovation Award recognizes organizations for their innovative approaches to financial education, which have benefitted students, consumers, and/or the financial literacy community at large.
Greenlight’s platform combines real-world banking with interactive financial education, giving families the tools they need to teach smart spending, saving, investing, and giving. Through its debit card and app, Greenlight has helped kids and teens develop responsible financial habits.
Greenlight partnered with American Public Media’s Marketplace to continue a nationwide tour to bring interactive financial education to 50,000 middle school students in 20 cities. Together, they created Million Bazillion Live! — an immersive game show with personal finance trivia, challenges, and prizes. Million Bazillion Live approached financial literacy in a fun, entertaining way — increasing awareness of the necessity of personal finance curriculum across the country.
Greenlight has supported several financial education podcasts in partnership with American Public Media, including Financially Inclined, a money podcast created by teens in collaboration with Next Gen Personal Finance and hosted by NGPF Director of Educational Outreach Yanely Espinal, and Million Bazillion, a podcast about money for kids and their families.
“We are honored to receive this recognition from the Jump$tart Coalition,” said Tim Sheehan, CEO and co-founder at Greenlight. “At Greenlight, one of our core pillars has always been to empower the next generation with essential financial skills. This award reaffirms our commitment to offer innovative solutions that help young people achieve financial literacy and confidence for a brighter future.”
“With Jump$tart’s focus on financial literacy for kids, we’re delighted to have this opportunity to recognize a company whose products and programs were created just for them,” said Laura Levine, Jump$tart President and CEO. “Greenlight’s commitment to innovation is as strong as its commitment to the families it serves.”
